Festival of Remembrance 2014
Tue 11 Nov 2014The children took part in activities to commemorate the centenary of the First World War and respected the annual Armistice Day minute silence. The children were invited to dress up in clothing from the time, which included injured soldiers, nurses, airmen and sailors. Some of the children from Year 2 to Year 6 visited Orleans House Gallery and learned about the Belgium refugees who came to Richmond in 1914. A range of art media was used to create a Belgian shop front with sculptures of 'treasured things from home' placed in the window.
As part of our commemoration, donations were also made to the Homeless Charity SPEAR in order to give something to others and show our gratitude for those who gave their all for us. Many thanks to you all for your kind cooperation in this thought-provoking day. We hope you enjoy these photos, there are more on the photo gallery please follow the link below:

Marshgate Mountaineers
Tue 08 Jul 2014This weekend the current year 5 Marshgate Mountaineers attempt to climb Snowdon, the highest Mountain in England and Wales. Last year some of the current year 6 children and parents climbed Snowdon (see the September 2013 newsletter for more information).
27 children from year 5, their parents and 4 very brave staff members (Mrs Antick, Mr Aylett, Miss McClenning and Mr Hobbins) will be doing the climb on Sat 12th July (fingers crossed for good weather!)
This year they are raising money for Marshgate School and Rett UK, a small charity that supports families with children with Rett Syndrome.
This is a charity very close to this year's hearts as one of the younger siblings of the Mountaineers has Rett Syndrome and they have personally been helped and supported by the charity.
They have set a very ambitious target of £5000, so if you would like to sponsor them. the link tho their fundraising page is:
We wish them luck and thank you for your support.
From Emma Alleyne, PSA Snowdon Co-ordinator.
