The Training Provider is an Alliance of seven schools and St Mary`s University College based in the London Borough of Richmond in South west London.
As a Local authority, Richmond is recognised as one of the highest achieving in England and offers a wide range of outstanding and good schools within the primary and special phase.
The area is culturally rich with Richmond and Bushy Royal Parks, the River Thames, theatres, museums, excellent sporting facilities and a wonderful range of restaurants and places of entertainment.
Central London is 30 minutes away by London Underground and South west overground trains.
The seven schools work closely as part of the family of Richmond schools and each brings different strengths and specialisms to the Alliance. St Mary's University College is situated in Strawberry Hill, Twickenham in South West London. Founded in 1850, it is generally acknowledged to be the oldest Catholic college in the UK.
In 2000, St Mary's celebrated 150 years in Education. With just under 4,000 students studying a wide range of subjects including sport, theatre directing and theology, initial teacher training accounts for a third of the student population. A growing number of qualified teachers undertake Masters programmes as part of their continuing professional development. In 2011, St Mary's was deemed to be 'outstanding' by OfSTED during inspection.
Course tutors at St Mary's are all skilful teachers themselves, with many years of experience in schools and higher education. Schools in the Alliance have established excellent relationships with St Mary's, having worked in partnership for many years.
At St Mary's we offer advice and support to our students who have requirements as a result of a disability, specific learning difficulty (eg dyslexia), medical condition or temporary disability, such as injury.
