In Reception, we teach letter formation to complement the phonic sounds that the children are learning.

Following the Read, Write Inc. scheme, every letter is represented by an object and accompanied by a rhyme to help the children remember the formation of that letter. The children then begin to use these letters to make words and short sentences.
